Primary service

Professional harness training

Two focus areas, one philosophy: patient, methodical work where the horse sets the pace. Based at Mantorp Travbana I welcome horses from across Sweden — from yearlings on their first day under harness to seasoned racehorses chasing the next level.

How I work

Three things that shape the result

Trainer and driver in one

The person who knows the horse's daily detail is the one making decisions in the sulky. The continuity shows in the races — and in the results.

Open dialogue with owners

You get continuous updates — not only when something happens. Always know how training is going, what we focus on, and why.

Programmes

What suits your horse?

01From breaking-in to race-ready

Young horses, 1–2 years

Methodical, calm foundation work that builds durable horses with a confident mindset and a body made to last a full career.

The first year shapes everything that follows. We take the time to introduce the horse to harness, sulky and handler — and we never skip a step. A proper foundation produces confidence at the track, and confident horses are fast horses.

My time in the US shapes how I work. There a stable is measured by how long its horses last, not only by how quickly they go as two-year-olds. I build fitness through long, calm kilometres, a patient build-up of muscle and a mental education that makes the horse meet the racing environment curious rather than nervous.

The goal is a two-year-old that is physically and mentally ready to race — but only when the horse itself shows it is. Never on the calendar.

Included

  • Individual training plan from day one
  • Daily care in a calm, structured environment
  • Step-by-step breaking — longeing, sulky, track work
  • Introduction to the starting gate and race environment
  • Regular video updates for owners
  • Close dialogue with vet and farrier

Suitable for

Yearlings, two-year-olds and young horses with no prior racing experience.

02Tailored race programmes

Racehorses, 3 years+

Horses of racing age get a programme built around the individual — form, strengths, temperament and ambition. Happy, healthy horses win races.

From the three-year-old's first real season to the seasoned campaigner chasing the next level — every horse needs something different, and none of them thrive on a template.

We start by reading the horse. Form analysis, fitness testing, a review of background and recent performances. From that I build an individual programme: the right amount of interval work, the right recovery, the right race density. When I both train and drive the horse, there is a continuity of understanding that shows up in the photo finish.

Race planning matters as much as training. We pick races where the horse has a real chance to perform — not races that simply fill the calendar. Every start has a purpose: development, form or result.

Wellbeing is not a slogan, it is the method. Sleep, feed, routine, social contentment. When those pieces are right, the horse delivers what it has within.

Frequently asked

What owners often ask

When can a young horse start racing?

Most Swedish trotters debut as three-year-olds, but foundation work starts as yearlings with calm handling and basic sulky work. I never force a horse onto the track before it is physically and mentally ready — that is the basis for a long career.

How does owner reporting work?

You get regular updates by phone, photo and video — not only on race days. If you have a question, you just call. Honest, frequent dialogue is part of the method, not an add-on.

Do you drive my horse yourself in races?

Yes, when it suits the horse and the race — and it is often a real advantage. The person who knows the horse's daily detail makes the tactical calls on the track. Sometimes I recommend another driver if it gives the horse a better chance; the choice is always made with the horse at the centre.

Do you take horses from across Sweden?

Yes, horses come to Mantorp from owners across the country. The stable sits directly at the racetrack in Östergötland, centrally between Stockholm and Gothenburg, and I help coordinate transport and arrival.

What does it cost to have a horse in training?

Monthly fees sit within the normal range for a professional A-trainer and include feed, care, training and stable rent. I am fully transparent on costs with no hidden fees — I am happy to share exact figures in a conversation.

Next step

Ready to talk about your horse?

A first conversation is free and without obligation. Tell me about the horse and your ambitions — and I will tell you honestly whether I can help and what a programme might look like.
